On Wednesdays, Judy, creator of an inspiring blog, A Thankful Woman’s Book of Blessings encourages participants to list their blessings, to give thanks for the five things in the past week and then link to Judy’s blog.
This week I am thankful for:
- Fresh peaches!
- Sheil Center. I went to mass here for the first time and was impressed by how intimate and relevant it was. I will return.
- Yevgeney Zamyatin’s novel We. It’s a weird, but good read much like 1984.
- The Faith and Fitness Challenge. It’s inspired me to cut down if not cut out sugar and to try a two week detox.
- The kindness of friends and family in times of trouble. Recently, a close family member has revealed severe hurts and betrayal and has been suffering, holding in her emotions and putting on a brave face for 2 years. Now the truth is out and she’s taken steps to move life in a new direction. She tends to want to portray a perfect image. Now, broken and hurt, she’s seen an outpouring of sympathy, prayers and love. How I wish our society and communities, especially Christian communities could seem more safe for the hurting, so that we could help with prayers, service and love in the midst of tough times rather than only at the end.
