A Thankful Woman’s Book of Blessings

On Wednesdays, Judy, creator of an inspiring blog, A Thankful Woman’s Book of Blessings encourages participants to list their blessings, to give thanks for the five things in the past week and then link to Judy’s blog.

Be sure to also check out her other blog and her website when you visit.

This week I am thankful for:

  1. Hong Kong, I went there last weekend and had such a lovely time. It was calm; people were polite, the food and shopping were terrific.
  2. The warm weather in Guangdong, my new home. It’s one thing I do appreciate. No need for even a sweater yet.
  3. My apartment, which supplies serenity in this tumultuous place.
  4. Midday Connection radio program, it’s my church in Asia, and a wonderful spiritual practice in the U.S. It nourishes me and keeps me going. A few weeks back there was a program entitled “Grumble Hallelujah” and boy, did that hit the right note.
  5. My health. It seems rather corny and it is something to put on the list when things are tough, but yes, I do realize that things could be much worse.
So this new job and new life in China has been HARD. There isn’t much to like – we teachers have been treated poorly with suspicion at every turn. It’s a fight to get the basics, e.g. paper, books. I don’t like it here and am counting the weeks till Christmas break. Still God is alive and well and blessing me in the midst of all this.
I feel badly that I haven’t been posting these, but it’s just exhausting here and it’s been hard to be thankful.
